About Counselling

About Counselling #01What is Counselling?
Counselling is where the counsellor helps you with an aspect of your life that is causing you distress. The counsellor will offer you genuine acceptance of who you are as a person and won't judge any issue or situation that you talk about during a session. They will listen very carefully to what you say and offer you thoughtful feedback and insight. They will work hard at understanding how it feels to be you, and provide you with new perspective to enable you to assess your own needs and consider what direction to take.

What can Counselling do for you?
Counselling can help you to resolve current difficulties, cope with emotional pain, and help you work out who you are and what you want from life.

About Counselling #02Why choose Me?
I am a very welcoming and approachable person who will make you feel at ease. I will work very hard on your behalf using my experience, knowledge and wisdom to support and guide you. Whatever the issue, I will be gentle, non-probing and treat you with the utmost respect. You will have the flexibility of coming to my practice, being visited in your own home, or alternatively have the option of telephone counselling.

Individuals
It can be difficult to know who to turn to when life gets tough. The support from family and friends can be limited and conditional. As an impartial guide I will enable you to naturally explore your troubles and express your true feelings and thoughts. By doing this you will feel more understood, less burdened, and more in tune with yourself. You will learn to trust in your own instincts which will ultimately increase your confidence and happiness.

Couples
Problems can sometimes threaten to overwhelm a relationship. As an impartial third party I will help you to listen and respect each other's thoughts and feelings, enable you to face a hurtful episode from the past, and ease you both into a more constructive way of communicating with each. This will ultimately deepen your intimacy and bring you closer together in a more loving and positive way.

All sessions are confidential and I abide by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) ethical framework
